For Immediate Release June 3, 2008 DeAnne DeMasters, 373-8580 What is more American than baseball, apple pie and the American Red Cross? Mountain Valley Chapter’s American Red Cross (ARC) will be sponsoring a baseball game Thursday, June 12, 6:30 p.m. at the UVU baseball stadium, featuring popular baseball stars including Dan Iorge, Vernon Law, Vance Law and Kim Nelson. Proceeds from the game and concessions (apple pie) will help fund local ARC disaster response and other services provided by the agency. Recent donations of $1,000 or more to the "All Star" campaign earned donors the right to play in the game with the "big name" players. The general public is invited to attend the event. Players will warm up at 5:30 p.m. "Imagine taking a swing at a ball pitched by a legendary pitcher or pitch to a major league big hitter," DeAnne DeMasters, ARC development director, said. "We are particularly encouraging business partners to each "pitch in" five people giving a total of $1,000 will be invited to play ball." Business sponsors will also receive the bonus of having banners and other marketing options during the game. Those interested in making donations to play in the game or for other information should contact DeMasters at 373-8580.
